Tacklebox ’n Tools is built by a working electrician who fishes, camps and hunts. Most battery advice online is either a sales pitch or a rule of thumb that falls apart on the water. This site is the set of tools I wanted for my own boat and camp: plain answers to how long a battery lasts, what size to buy and how to wire it safely.
How the calculators work
- Real figures, not guesses. Amp draws and run times come from manufacturer specifications and published tables, and every calculator lists its sources at the bottom of the page.
- The math is shown. Each tool explains how it gets its numbers, including battery losses under heavy draw, inverter losses and voltage drop.
- Wiring follows the marine standards. Wire sizes use the ABYC 3% voltage drop rule and the federal ampacity table for boat wiring.
- Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
A note on safety
Results are planning estimates. Your equipment's manual and labels come first, and anything you're not sure about belongs with a qualified marine or electrical technician.
